Pelicans star Davis may miss 2 weeks

NEW ORLEANS (AP) The New Orleans Pelicans say Anthony Davis has a sprained finger that is expected to sideline him up to two weeks.

The star forward hurt his left index finger during the fourth quarter of Friday night's 128-112 loss at Portland.

The Pelicans have lost three of four to drop to 21-15, four games behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference entering Saturday.

Harden puts streak on line vs. Lakers

For lengthy stretches on Wednesday, it appeared that Houston Rockets guard James Harden was alone on an island, scoring at will because the situation demanded it.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Under coach Gregg Popovich, the San Antonio Spurs have been consistent winners. That includes when they go on the road - and anywhere they play the Minnesota Timberwolves.

LaMarcus Aldridge scored 25 points, Rudy Gay added 22 and the Spurs held on to give Popovich another milestone victory in a 116-113 win against the Timberwolves on Friday night.

D'Angelo Russell matched his career high with 40 points and the Brooklyn Nets came back after trailing by as many as 21 points to beat the Orlando Magic 117-115 on Friday night.

BOSTON (AP) Kyrie Irving's 20-point third quarter wasn't quite enough for the Boston Celtics to put away the Memphis Grizzlies.

The star guard scored eight more in the fourth, finishing with 38 points and 11 assists while leading the Celtics to a 122-116 victory Friday night.

Damian Lillard scored 22 points and eight assists to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 128-112 win over the Pelicans on Friday night.

Pistons hold on vs. Heat, Drummond hurt

DETROIT (AP) Blake Griffin had 32 points and 11 rebounds, and the Detroit Pistons overcame an early exit by injured Andre Drummond to beat the Miami Heat 98-93 on Friday night.

Dwyane Wade scored 20 points for the Heat, but missed badly on an off-balance 3-pointer in the final seconds that could have tied the game.

Bulls expect Carter to miss 8-12 weeks

CHICAGO (AP) The Chicago Bulls expect prized rookie center Wendell Carter Jr. to miss eight to 12 weeks because of a left thumb injury.

The team said Friday that surgery has been recommended for Carter, who was hurt Tuesday against the Lakers.
